A claim is a pile of evidence: wide shots of the damage, close shots of the detail, serial numbers, receipts, and often a scanned policy or police report. Claim portals and email inboxes cap uploads at a few megabytes per file, and adjusters rarely accept photos sent in a dozen separate attempts. A phone shoots each of those at 3-6MB, so a fifty-photo claim is well past any portal limit. Damage photos need more care than receipts — cracks, water stains, and scratched serial numbers are exactly the fine detail aggressive compression destroys. Compress moderately, keep the evidence readable, and the claim goes in as one complete submission. The safe approach: compress for legibility first, size second. If an adjuster cannot read the damage from the compressed file, you will be asked to send it again — which costs more than the bytes you saved.
